Keswick Town Council is dedicated to making our town an even better place to live, work and visit.

Established in 1974, the Council is made up of 12 volunteer Councillors who are elected by the people of Keswick every four years. Councillors must have a strong connection to the town, either by living in Keswick or within three miles, being on the local electoral register, or having their main place of work here for at least a year. Together, they represent the interests of the community and work to improve the quality of life for everyone.

We are proud to look after some of Keswick’s most treasured green spaces, including Hope Park, Fitz Park and Townsfield. These beautiful areas are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike throughout the year.

The Council also organises many of the town’s favourite community events, bringing people together to celebrate and enjoy everything Keswick has to offer. These include the Christmas Lights Switch-On, May Day, Party in the Park and the Keswick Games.

In addition, we support local organisations through our community grants programme and care for important civic assets such as the town’s War Memorial.

Your Town Council is your local voice. We are a statutory consultee on planning applications and work hard to ensure that the views of Keswick residents are heard. We also campaign on issues that matter to our community, including the future of the swimming pool, the impact of second homes and holiday lets, and other local priorities.

We work closely with Cumberland Council, the Lake District National Park Authority and other organisations to ensure Keswick receives the strong representation it deserves.

Town Council meetings are held at the Town Hall on the third Thursday of every month and are open to the public.

We encourage residents to attend, raise concerns, share ideas and ask questions. Whether we can help directly or put you in touch with the right organisation, we’re here to support our community and ensure local voices are heard.

Each May, the Town Council elects one of its members to serve as Mayor for the coming year. The Mayor chairs Council meetings and acts as the civic representative of Keswick, attending community events, supporting local organisations and representing the Council in an apolitical role.

Our current Mayor is Councillor Natalie Evans, who is honoured to serve the people of Keswick and represent the town at civic and community events throughout the year.
