Keswick Community Housing Trust was formed in response to a series of Churches Together in Keswick consultations in 2009.

This highlighted the housing issues experienced in Keswick due to the combined impact of high house prices and second homes, low wages associated with the tourism industry, the loss of affordable housing through the Right to Buy, and the high cost of a housing association shared ownership scheme.

KCHT is a Community Land Trust, and is run by volunteers who are passionate about providing affordable homes for the local people of Keswick who cannot afford to buy or rent long-term accommodation in Keswick at current market prices. We have succeeded in providing 25 rental homes, 15 shared owned homes and manage a further 6 properties on behalf of private owners.

In 2024, KCHT was awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service.
